The Family that Prays Together Stays Together

     So the family has migrated North and West. We are all in the Salt Lake Valley together again. It's probably an ongoing migratory process but amazingly we are all here together for now. Meag and Mike have been in West Jordan, and just moved Northward to Stansbury up on the shores of the Great Salt Lake. It's farther for us to get together but the good news is, it is still in the Salt Lake Valley and we're all still within reach less than an hours drive.. so that's good! They also welcomed new little baby Aiden to the family in November. So they've had a busy few months getting accustomed to baby, holidays and packing and moving. Woo hoo!!

     Dustin and his family moved to Midvale from Denver in October 2015.. Yay!!  That was a miracle in and of itself. They are expecting baby #4 in late June, or early July. How fun! Bryce and Chase were in the Eastern US all summer installing alarms. Bryce came home in time to start at UVU in the fall and Chase came home just long enough to pack and get ready to head to Europe for the fall. He had a spectacular tour de France, Switzerland, Holland, Germany, Austria, Chech, Belgium and Spain. He has a bunch of pictures on his flickr account. Kelly also has a new j.o.b. working for a Mortgage Co. reviewing appraisals. Blake and Keanan are both at Corner Canyon HS where Blake is a Junior and Keanan a Freshman. We love our neighborhood and location. And the ward is awesome. Kelly and Wendy both teach Primary and Scouts. Kelly 11 year old scouts and Wendy Cubs. We manage to stay busy.

Halloween was fun with everyone together. Actually Chase was in Europe so he was having the most fun of all. But we did our best in his absence to party and keep our spirits up!
One of the best things about the move is having all the grandchildren close by. We have sleepovers get to spend time with each other.

Keanan had a good season racing as a freshman on the Mountain Bike Team for the Corner Canyon Chargers He improved over the season and loves to ride the many trails in and around the Draper area. He's gotten better at staying on "his pony".  His final race was in Good Ole St. George, Utah the end of October 2015. It was so warm and sunny and fun to go South for a few days and visit friends and family while there.

During Chases extended trip through Europe some of the highest highlights were Barcelona Spain, his new favorite city.. Vienna Austria for the authentic Veiner Schnitzel and so much ART along the way, including but not limited to -Van Gogh and Michelangelo!!

This sadly outdated blog is in serious need of an update, so here's my quickest attempt at it.
So, first of all, we moved. We moved out of necessity not for any other reason. It's not a fun move, it's not a welcomed move.. to be sure it's been a difficult and untimely move for the whole family. But, it is the result of several miracles and we feel as hard as it is, it is most of all a blessing. I'm sure there's much yet to learn from our experiences and we count it all as a blessing, though this fact had not made the transition flawless or painless. But it makes the "big frog" a little easier to swallow. The good news is our home is in the good and capable hands of dear friends who love and appreciate the property and that makes it easier.

The timing of it all was no good, being during the fall semester, with Chase and Wendy in full blown school at Dixie State, and Kelly trying to work enough  to pay the bills in a crummy economy and a job that barely provides enough work to survive even after eliminating lots of fluff already. And, we had to change wards as well. I'm sure we will learn to love the new one but we surely miss the friends and neighbors in the old one. And from past experience we know it's hard to keep up the old ties while moving on and getting caught up in new ones too. But we will never give up trying.

It's nice to know the kids who are married and living outside driving distance for an easy visit, are still interested in each other and making the effort to get together on their own. In September, Dustin and family visited Northern Utah and spent time with Meagan and family in Park City. The young cousins enjoyed each other and are beginning to make their own memories together. (Make's this gramma's heart happy!)

We gathered at our Home on Casper Circle one last time to Honor Grandpa & Grandma Parker for their 70th Wedding Anniversary and Grandpa's 90th Birthday! We had lots of family help celebrate and missed the ones that couldn't make it. Kelly's brother Jeff and his sister Jill and most of their children and family were able to come. Ylvia, Dennis, Yamira, Jarold and family, Aubrey, Dallin and Brendan. Charity, James, Lori and their boys Ashton, and Gavin. Stacy and Erich and Mom, Connie Stewart. As well as our family, Meag, Mike, Mikaela and Austin and Chase, Blake and Keanan. The hazzard of naming people is leaving someone out.. sorry! Anyway it was a good gathering and Dennis made an awesome video tribute to Roy and Norine.

Bryce, aka Elder Parker is entering his final phase of the mission.. that final 6 month home stretch.. It's hard to believe he's been out already for 18 months, but it's real. If he will remain immersed in his work, it will fly by in a flash! I'm not sure if any of us are ready for the end. We've all felt so blessed as he serves, and he has grown so much as a man, and loves being a missionary. But he will be focused for a few more months and can worry about the rest of his life, school, work, business, and all that good stuff when he returns home. For now, he's being a great teacher and missionary. He loves mail and would love to hear from YOU!! (I would love him to hear from YOU!)

Introducing.... ta dah!!!.... ASHER JOSEPH PARKER!!!!

Our latest arrival as of Wednesday May 4th, 201l. Luke's little brother Asher. Asher took his first swim, even before his first breath, as his was a water delivery with all the comforts of home. He came rolling in at a whopping 8 pounds even, 20 1/2 inches long. Mother (Serene) and baby are healthy, happy and extremely content, all is well.

Also, Kelly's mother broke her hip early Sunday Morning 5/1/11, She is recovering pretty good, with a few blips along the way, but she should be able to return home by the middle of May. We are all anxious for that fine day.. none more than she!

What's up? Yea, my whole district is going to Minnesota with me, all ten of us.
Elder Taggart is my companion and he's from Morgan Utah. uh i still have yet to send any pics.. i'm gonna print some and send them that way.
We get 30 minutes every day and we're doing laundry now, we cut a deal to do it at six am instead of 4 pm or something so its not so crowded :D
My days are packed because I'm a pilot mission which means when most missionaries teach 6 times we teach 24... we are taught to to teach another way, its pretty tight. Thanks for the packages! They were really fun to receive. And tasty. TU.

so, Bryce is all Delivered safe and sound in the Missionary Training Center, Provo, UT; where he will stay until May 11th when he leaves for Minnesota, Minneapolis Mission Home. He'll be in the mission which covers most of Minnesota, some of Wisconnson, Michigan and Ontario Canada. So he could serve in a lot of different places, only time will tell. We will try to keep this blog and his two web pages specifically for his mission up dated. . . so check back and see if we accomplish that goal..=)

OGDEN – Ella Hemmert, 100, passed away Friday, December 3, 2010 at her home.

She was born August 19, 1910 in Ogden, Utah to George and Mabel Dalton.

She married Orval Hemmert on June 6, 1931.

She was a member of the LDS Church.

Surviving are her brother Darrell and sister, Norene

Preceded in death by her husband, parents and brothers Harvey and Alfred Dalton.

Graveside services will be held Wednesday, December 8, 2010 at 12 noon at Aultorest Cemetery, 836 36th Street. Friends may visit family Wednesday from 10:30 to 11:30 a.m. at Lindquist’s Ogden Mortuary, 3408 Washington Blvd.

Aunt Ella Celebrated her 100th Birthday earlier this year, and we were fortunate to be there to join in the festivities with lots of family and friends alike. Uncle Darrell Neilson, hosted her party in Ogden, on Blake's 12th birthday, the 21st. Ella's real natal date is August 18th and this was a huge deal making it to 100 years. It was an honor to be able to attend and celebrate her. Dennis Thayn made a DVD of her life with pictures and music. What a wonderful time it was for Aunt Ella. She's become very frail the last few years and more so the last few months. Until finally her age caught up with her and our Dear Aunt Ella passed away December 3rd. Her services were held today December 8th in Ogden. We will miss her hearty, jolly laugh and her beautiful "pinkalicous" smile. And her thoughtful Christmas and Birthday cards. She will be missed but never forgotten by the large family she left behind. We love you Aunt Ella.

Lukes Blessing Day Oct. 11th 2009

We had a crowd present for the event, all the Stead family, Parker's, Campbell's, Great Grandma Stewart, Jill and Dennis Thayn, Mario, Katie, Ryan and Paige Jacques, Dan and Darlene Matheson and later as we gathered at our home, Great Grandma and Grandpa Parker came too. My only regret for the day was not getting a group picture. Besides this "group" the only ones I could round up for one or two quickies!

who did a supurb job I must say. And Luke cooperated beautifully as well.

Invitations were sent out and this is Lukes Mug shot for the invite to this wonderful occasion Luke's Blessing.

This was our little hike over the backside of the Black Ridge to the Temple Quarry, where the early settlers cut huge 5000 pound blocks of lava to lay the foundation for the St George Temple. It was quite a feat those pioneers accomplished! And a good hike for the younger boys!

Keanan was quite the acrobat too! It was a fun afternoon. We went were hot when we got down off the trail and had frozen yogurt for a treat.

Ok so this semana,
This week was pretty freakin good the sector is progressing a lot right now we have 9 people the baptismal dates. And 5 baptisms for this weekend. So as you can imagine I´ve been pretty busy. We got a ton to teach and a lot more potential still. Me and Elder Rodriguez will be splitting up in the next few weeks and the crazy thing is I might be training next change its only speculation but it wouldn’t be un normal at all. I have to admit it would be pretty sweet to have un hijito. Confrence was stinkin sweet this year I think Sunday more was the best session there has ever been usually these things build up to better and better talks but woof Pres Uchdorf started amazingly Elder Andersons was incredible Elder Snow tambien then Elder Holland gave probably the best talk I´ve ever heard and then Pres. Monson oh incredible. But serious Elder Hollands talk was like a dream I couldn´t move or do anything also Elder Perry wow I’m gonna share that one with every member here. Elder Christoffersons and Nelson and Bednars make me temple sick (like homesick but for the temple) and no Alejandros son isn’t a member until this weekend y despues TEMPLO. And no we couldn’t go to the priesthood session so I’ll learn about it at some other time I guess but that’s about it so japo

March 30th 2009....Ok so heres the story of the week. Alejandro was baptized! It was a very complicated weekend, we all did a lot to make this thing happen. First of all we couldn’t have the baptism when we planned it because it's a juvinile dilinquint day here, and so we had to go into the house early and then he couldn’t (be baptised then) anyway because of work and then he was working when we had planned the interview, so we changed it to the morning of the baptism and changed the time of the baptism, and his wife was worried she couldn’t make it but long story short-- it happened! To be confirmed and baptized, Alejandro, I think slept about 2 hours in three days! He was working a full 24 hours before his baptism.. got home and had to go to the interview.. had the interview.. went home for about 2 hours (slept a little there I think).. came back to the church about 2:30pm.. was baptized.. got home about 6pm.. went straight to work.. worked all night.. came home.. and went to church for the whole time (three hour block) in a tie and everything!. He’s got a super strong testimony, and in one year he’ll have an eternal family. He bore his testimony how the gospel changed his life. He was in a bad time then we showed up at his door, -like his angels he says and found his ticket to eternal life. His wife tells us about his changes and everything. He gave up smoking and everything really he’s amazing. Its crazy. And Geraldine's already a little Mormon girl shes got 2 calling teaches primary is running from meeting to meeting she looks like she’s been a member forever, its crazy how much she’s changed also. Austin's Blessing Day

What a nice clear day we had today for Baby Austins Blessing. Mike did a great job and we had a fun get together afterward with lots of Austin's family! Grandpa's, Grandma's, Great grandma's, Uncles Aunts and Cousin's galore.

We all had the time of our lives the Saturday following Christmas as we were invited up to a hanger near the St George airport for a ride in a helicopter. Charity called and said her friend and boss Jeremy, had offered to take anyone up in his copter, so we were there!! It was awesome. His brand new super duper French made, state of the art, fresh out of the manufacturer four year waiting list-unless you have $$$ to buy out someones spot-so he did- ultra quiet, computer on board Helicopter. It was fun in any case. Six of us could go up at a time. So we each got a couple of turns up. We saw a lot of St. George and the surrounding area. It was a thrill to fly down into the canyons and over drop-offs and see petroglyphs right up close, buzz ATV'ers and chase packs of coyotes. It was a new way to look at the landmarks we know from the ground. And the only way to see other things too unaccessable for most to ever see.
We flew down the Virgin River Gorge, out to Gunlock, Quail and Sand Hollow, "Rock City", AZ strip, The "Dixie" on the red hill, Tuacahn, over to Anasazi Flats and right up beside some of the petroglyphs (pretty cool), out by Quail Lake, and Sand Hollow, We swooped down some canyons near Silver Reef/Leeds area. Silver Reef and Leeds, Warner valley and more...Jeremy was a gracious guide and very kind and generous to take us up and create such an adventure for us. It was awesome and we all had a blast! We were able to fly right over our home in Bloomington and buzz Serene's family in Bloomington Hills. It's a day we will be talking about for a long, long time.
